NEW YOU: AN OATH TO YOURSELF



Welcoming the New Year may feel a bit different this year. 2020 has not been easy and to most people, stress is the automatic response on how tough the previous year has been.


Same day last year, we never could have imagined everything that happened throughout the course of 2020. Though 2021 is still uncertain but one way you can celebrate what's to come is to write out a few new goals for 2021.


One of the important things you can do is to focus on taking care of yourself and improving your health and wellbeing. However, do not set goals that are difficult to reach, be realistic and start with the easy steps.






EAT HEALTHY

Eating a healthy, balanced diet is one of the most important things you can do to protect your health. In fact, up to 80% of premature heart disease and stroke can be prevented through your life choices and habits, such as eating a healthy diet and being physically active.

EXERCISE DAILY

You don't need to hit the gym or start bodybuilding or run a marathon, just a half an hour brisk walk, being physically active through the day will do. Every time you take the stairs, walk around after 30mins of sitting, walk while talking on the phone, ironing clothes, washing, and other household chores it all adds up to a healthier you.







DRINK MORE WATER

This healthy habit could make a difference in 2021. Whether we realize it or not, water plays a huge role in our individual wellness. Drinking water is proven to increase energy levels and metabolic rates (burning of calories).







PAMPER YOURSELF

Self-care is important in any situation and whilst having a pamper night is normally in preparation for a big night out, date, gig etc, it doesn’t have to be. Taking time to relax and vibe with yourself is something that’s crucial in managing the at times stressful situation COVID-19 has brought upon us. Skincare and massages are some of most convenient way to de-stress yourself.





TAKE TIME OUT

Life is busy, whether you’re at school, college or work. Sometimes, the pressures can seem all a bit too much. Taking some time off for relaxation is vital to help your mind and body switch off from those pressures.



Have you made your goals for this year? Goals don’t have to be business or achievement related. Personal goals are just as important because they reflect the journey you’ll embark on to get from the person you are today (at the beginning of the year) to the person you are at the end of the year. This journey might not be easy. There might be hiccups along the way, but, at least you made an oath to yourself and oaths are bigger than promises.
