Have you ever considered working out with your face? Several researchers recently investigated this innovative concept, which is also known as facial yoga. They wanted to know if people could tone their facial muscles with focused activities in order to seem younger. They employed face workouts in particular to eliminate wrinkles, fill in hollow cheeks, and lessen other indications of ageing. These workouts targeted underlying muscle strength and development in important areas such the cheeks, jaw line, neck, eyelids, and brows.
The motivation behind the study originates from the fact that a large part of facial ageing is caused by the loss of fat and soft tissue, which causes drooping and wrinkles. If we can increase our biceps by lifting weights at the gym, why can't we do the same for the muscles in our faces, filling out those contours and giving us a more youthful appearance?
Try these facial exercises that might help you look younger.
Eye-firming and cheek plumper
Place both hands horizontally on top of your cheeks, right below your lower lash line. Your index fingers should be just beneath your lashes, and your little fingers should be just beneath your cheekbones. To keep muscles in place, press your hands on the skin's surface.
Make a squishy sour expression by squinting your eyes and squeezing your cheeks up toward your eyes. Repeat three to five times for a total of five counts.
Overall face tone
Place your hands together in a flat fist to create a resistance platform under your chin. While the platform offers resistance beneath your chin, squeeze every muscle in your face, squint your eyes, pucker your lips, and tuck your chin to your chest. Keeping your arms and elbows tucked is beneficial. Hold for a total of five counts.
Alternate with the reverse exercise, when you expand rather than constrict. Elevate your eyes, arch your brows, open your mouth wide, and lift your chin slightly as you release your platform. Hold for a count of five.
Three to five times, repeat both movements.
Define your jaw line
Put your hands together in a flat fist to create a resistance platform under your chin. Tuck your chin to your chest and place your tongue on the roof of your mouth with your lips. Repeat for a total of five counts, pausing on the fifth count for a total of five counts.
Alternate this exercise by dropping your chin and jaw to your DIY platform with an open mouth. Repeat for a total of five counts, pausing on the fifth count for a total of five counts.
Alternate between each movement for three sets.
Could exercise be good for your face if it's healthy for your waistline and heart? Yes, according to some Northwestern Medicine researchers in Chicago. According to the researchers, frequent face exercises can help to strengthen the muscles directly beneath the skin, resulting in larger upper and lower cheeks. This can give you a more youthful look.
